Breaking news

Last year, the New York Times ran a story about the iPod’s shuffle feature. "Is it really random?", they wondered.

This week, Stephen Levy published an article in Newsweek about the iPod’s shuffle feature. "Is it really random?", he asks.

Newsweek; dear, dear Newsweek. Your anachronisms are quaintly endearing. Next week’s issue will no doubt have the full lowdown on that wacky "all your base are belong to us" thing.

Anyway, everyone knows that the iPod uses the almost completely random Cederholm-Fugazi algorithm to shuffle songs.
