Huh. Makes sense that this could be used as a basis for a polyfill for the new (draft) spec. Nice very large number of tools are available from the command line

looks like they have made it too complicated again. Time to re-engage. Double-hash is not allowed in the current URL spec, so anything that uses the BNF for it will barf. Issues we found were in IRC clients and regexes for matching URLs in plaintext.
