If you’re saying that a hamburger icon is a common convention, the data from usability testing disagrees.

But good point about the positioning of the close icon—I’ve fixed that now (the open/close trigger is persistent). Thanks for that!

My comment is contextual to this thread (examples of non hamburger style navigation). But I’d argue, due to its over use, the hamburger is not without any user expectations of typical behavior. My point is - Ok this site is not using a ☰ but it sure talks like a 🍔! cont.

So now that I’ve snarked about your nav - I’ll fanboy - I’ve read a lot of your other work, ABA etc, so huge props. Also the menu tweak is much easier to use with my carpal-tunnel thumb!

I think you’re conflating hamburger menus with progressive disclosure: one is a subset of the other. Saying any progressive disclosure pattern is basically a hamburger menu is like saying all animals are basically fish. 🍔 🦒 🦔 🦓 🐟 adactio.com/notes/16022
