TLDR:> The course, which varies from year to year, consists of five loops of the 20 miles course for a total of 100 miles (160 km). Some racers have claimed that it is longer. @AmeliaBR @adactio I cannot recommend the documentary *The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young* highly enough. A lot of the weirdness has been spoiled for you by the Wikipedia article, but it’s still a great example of documentary filmmaking and a riveting story to watch unfold.

@adactio Wish him good luck! The organizer of that race is a family friend. (I grew up nearby.)
