Any plans to ever pay the invoice I sent you for this?

As it stands, with the travel costs I’m out of pocket for, I paid you to speak at your conference.

Do the right thing.

Your main concern should be user needs—not your own.

When I talk about over-engineering, I’m speaking from the perspective of end users, not developers.

Before considering your ease of use, and maintainability, consider users first.

The post specifically says “It feels ‘wrong’ when a powerful client-side JavaScript framework is applied to something that could be accomplished using HTML.” (emphasis mine)

They’re both such wonderful books—apart from the obvious microbial connection, there’s a refreshingly uncynical joy infusing the writing of each of them!

Not quite. Both techniques create a Document Object Model. A DOM can be created with HTML or a DOM can be created with JavaScript. But JavaScript cannot create HTML. (I know it’s a pedantic distinction.)

It’s not a “web standard” when it’s unilaterrally shipped by one browser vendor prior to any standards discussion.

(I’m not necessarily saying don’t ship it; but calling it a “web standard” is disengenuous, and where the confusion lies.)
